Margaret Comer is the Corporate Services Executive at the Gallagher Group, responsible for the human resources functions for over 500 staff, policy development and implementation, organisation of conferences and training.
She is also responsible for the management of Gallagher Group buildings, farm, fleet and services and is a director of Franklin Machinery, a subsidiary of the Gallagher Group. Margaret was also a member of the acquisition team which purchased the then Marton based Cardax business in 1999. "I treasure my involvement in the Gallagher Group - I am passionate about my job and the people I work with. My role is demanding but it has created many opportunities for me and it's a job where you never stop learning."
Since joining Gallagher as manager of secretarial services and personal assistant to Bill Gallagher and his brother John, she was appointed to her present position 11 years ago. Whilst her role has changed significantly over the years, she still considers the role of assistant to Bill Gallagher as her priority.
Margaret takes an active interest in the local community - "Always be ready to put back into the community what you have been privileged to receive" She has also been a Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Parentline and the President of the EMA Waikato, for two years. She was also on the Board of Waikato Stadium.
Born and bred in Hamilton Margaret is also a JP and in 2015 was awarded the NZOM for philanthropy - she has two adult children - Matthew who is an Intermediate school teacher and Shannon who does voluntary work in Auckland.
